Generative AI Made Easy with Microsoft Edge and Bing: A Beginner’s Guide

Generative AI, ChatGPT and other similar technologies are all the rage these days, but how do they actually work and what can they do for you? In this post, I will show you the easiest way available today to create amazing content in minutes using Generative AI. But before we jump into action, let’s define Generative AI.

Generative AI is a rapidly developing field of artificial intelligence that has the potential to revolutionize the way we create content. By using large language models, Generative AI can generate text, images, translate languages, write different kinds of creative content, and answer your questions in an informative way.

Enter “The New Bing!”

Yes, “Bing”, the search engine that you always ignore and choose Google instead! Finally, you have a good reason to switch to Bing. To use the Generative AI features in Bing, you have to make another switch: you have to switch to the Microsoft Edge browser if you are using some other browser (Google Chrome?). At the time of writing this post, there is a waitlist for the new Bing. You can visit new Bing’s webpage and join the waitlist.”

Once you install Microsoft Edge and get past the waitlist, you can access Bing’s Generative AI features right from the Microsoft Edge browser’s sidebar. You will see three tabs: Chat, Compose, and Insights.

In Chat, you can write your queries in a conversational style. You can also choose a conversation style such as Creative, Balanced, or Precise.

The Compose feature helps you to write emails, blog posts, paragraphs and generate ideas. You can set the tone (Professional, Casual, Funny, etc.) and length (Short, Medium and Long) of your write-up.

Insights tab shows various relevant information about the webpage you are visiting.

Image Creator

Surely by now you have seen images created by AI on your Facebook or LinkedIn feed. Bing will let you to create your own AI-generated images as well! Go to bing.com, click Images and then click the Image Creator button. Now you will able to write your image idea in the prompt and shortly you will get your AI-generated image!
